Servo, being a Sim, now has need meters as well. Servos can even move out and get a place of their own. This includes getting jobs, being employed by Sim-created businesses, learning job skills, and so on. You can command it manually, and it can do anything normal Sims do. In practice, this means that Servo is now a Sim all its own. The storyline is that Servo has been upgraded with an advanced artificial intelligence algorithm. This change is significant not in and of itself, but because of why Servo is now counted as a Sim. This means a seven-Sim family can only have one Servo activated, and an eight-Sim family cannot have any. That is, he occupies one of the eight slots reserved for family members. The second change, and perhaps the most significant, is that Servo is counted as a Sim. (I'm going with male pronouns here because I'm a jerk.) The only difference between the two is that female Servo has a flower on her little antenna. When initially activated, you can set Servo to be male or female, and you name him. What's Changed?įirst, Servo comes in two models. Still, if you could afford him, no family would be complete without him. Not only was he that ridiculous 15 grand initially, but he contributed to the house value because he was technically an object (and therefore also contributed to the bills). That way, he worked while my Sims slept, and he would stay out of the way during the day. In fact, my strategy was to have the last adult Sim going to bed activate him. Servo had no such constriction he was probably activated more at night than any other time. Even if a repairman stopped over that day, it would take him a Sim hour or two to get him to arrive. This means if you broke your shower in the evening, you were pretty screwed.Įqually advantageous, Servo could be activated immediately. Maids left at a certain time and were not available at night gardeners would only appear every three days, although they would stay until done and repairmen did not stop over at night. Servo would do all the work, and he wouldn't stop until he was done. A Sim merely had to go to his pod, start him up, and that was it. His advantage over conventional hired help was that he could be activated any time. When finished, he would return to his little pod and shut down. He would change into different hats depending on what he was doing, but he would run throughout the house repairing everything, tidying up, and watering all the plants. Simply, he was the maid, gardener, and repairman all rolled into one.
